Jungle Falls

DSC_4792About the Location:  Nauyaca Falls near Dominical in Costa Rica is a beautifully wild place that is difficult enough to get and keeps most people away.  Only an hour from Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio, this part of the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica is stunning and teeming with flaura and fauna.

About the Shot:  These scenes are often quite paradoxical to me because the end result is a relaxing view, but to get here was a struggle. After waking up at 5:30am, packing my gear, hitting the trailhead at 7am, and hiking 1.5 hours in on a very rugged trail in stifling humidity with 45lbs of gear on my back, I arrived soaking wet. I remember the sweat dripping off the brim of my hat as I was pulling my gear out. But it’s all worth it in the end when you’re standing barefoot in the cool waters of a jungle stream and the sun rises over the top of the waterfall.
