About the Location: Bangkok is one of the (or the) most interesting cities in southeast Asia to photograph. It’s beautiful, gritty, dark and light. The food, the people, the history…it’s all compelling. But it’s the streets and alleys that tug at me. Continue reading “The Ideal Life”

Arman
About the Location: The Philippines holds a special place in my heart. The people, with their remarkable kindness and hospitality, are my favorite thing about the 7,640-island nation. Here we were on our way to the trailhead leading to Mt. Pinatubo, an active volcano whose latest eruption in 1991 caused significant damage in this area, north of Manila. Continue reading “Arman”

Peace Be With You
About the Location: I immediately felt welcomed into Deir es-Sultan, the Ethiopian monastery located on the roof of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. A handful of monks from the Church of Ethiopia live among the ruins of a medieval cloister erected by the Crusaders. Continue reading “Peace Be With You”
Night Market
About the Location: This is the infamous Temple Street Night Market of Hong Kong. Located just south of Mong Kok, the most densely populated neighborhood on earth, this market is a thriving part of the Kowloon experience. You can find a wide assortment of items here from souvenirs to travel accessories, but it is dominated by men’s apparel (the Ladies Market isn’t far away).
